Torquay Wedding Photographer – Paul Eccles

Paul Eccles, Torquay based wedding photographer

AS KEALA SETTLE SINGS IN ‘THE GREATEST SHOWMAN’ THIS IS ME, I MAY NOT BE CENTRE STAGE BUT I WILL BE YOUR SUPPORT ACT THROUGHOUT THE DAY, COORDINATING & ORGANISING WHATEVER IS NEEDED.

I haven’t always been a wedding photographer, I have had many jobs over the years including quite a long stint as an Estate Agent (and yes, I did take the photos of the houses!) I didn’t study photography at college or anything like that, in fact, I never really knew what I wanted to do but I have always had a camera in hand since I bought my first digital camera back in the early 2000s.

I didn’t take my photography seriously until my dad purchased a Canon 500D just before Christmas 2010. Not long after that, I took the camera to a friend’s engagement party and they asked me to shoot their wedding (and we are still friends so they must have liked the photos!!)

Since that day, I have photographed 100’s of weddings across Devon, Cornwall and the South West in venues ranging from grand castles to small intimate ceremonies set on quaint farms.

I am passionate about capturing each couple’s special day in the way they want. Whether it is those relaxed, natural shots or aerial views using drone technology, I know how to get those images that will last a lifetime. I understand how important your wedding day is and strive to document each moment in a way you, your family and your friends will treasure forever.

I’m not just your usual photographer: I am always prepared to capture those unexpected moments or have a safety pin and sewing kit to save the bride’s day!

Since deciding to make wedding photography my career, I have completed a City & Guilds accredited Diploma and as a member of The Guild of Photographers am committed to learning and development.

My approach

Every wedding day is different but I believe in capturing as much of the day as possible. From the small details to the big events like the first kiss and the first dance. I try and stand back and observe what is happening during the day while still getting the shots needed but if you need help to organise your guests in to group photos or rally everyone round for your cake cut, I’m always on hand to assist.

When it comes to editing your photos, each picture is given individual attention, no throwing a preset on them all and walking away. I like natural bright colours and images that will stand the test of time.

AWAY FROM THE CAMERA

My wife and I have 3 children who keep us very busy.  I enjoy playing football myself and also coach a local youth team. I enjoy walks along the beach regardless of the weather; there is nothing better than being wrapped up warm mid-winter staring out at a stormy sea.
